AlfaNum has signed a business contract with the company Speech Morphing System from San Jose, California.

The cooperation with SMI will further accelerate the development of hybrid text-to-speech synthesis based on hidden Markov models (HMM-TTS), as well as (semi)automatic prosodic annotation, two activities that AlfaNum has already worked on. The next phase will be related to voice conversion, which can be aimed at chaging the identity of the speaker, but also the speaking style of a single speaker (neutral, upbeat, subdued...).
