Financier: City of Novi Sad

Project duration: March 2011 – June 2011

Project partners:

  • Multis – Association of patients with multiple sclerosis
  • Society for Cerebral and Child Palsy
  • Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad
  • AlfaNum, Novi Sad

Summary: The project was aimed at improving the quality of life of people with multiple sclerosis and cerebral paralysis using speech technologies. Speech technologies enable people with physical disabilities to independently perform certain activities, for which they otherwise need a help of assistant, such as reading written content, certain simple operations such as opening windows, turning on/off lights and so on. Any progress in making the physically disabled more independent is a big step for our society, and even bigger and more important for themselves and for those who care for them. During the project new computers were purchased and anReader software was installed on them, which facilitated the rehabilitation. Realisation of this project in Novi Sad was a significant step for our society and the societies across the former Yugoslavia, since it was the first project of this kind in the region.
